the brief
design a nested typography piece of a quote
in adobe illustrator, export and build a 3D
version in Shapr, then print with a 3D printer.
the build
the drawing was dropped into adobe
illustrator,drawn over, then six sets of flowy
lines were placed along the tops and bottoms
of the letters to trim them so that the "leading"
is equal between the four lines of text.
the design
The typography done had to be of a quote
that the individual has said. Naturally mine
was "They look like onions." I drafted up
a drawing in the dimensions of the final
piece, and decided the letters should be
stacked on top of each other in waves.
With the exception of "onions" all of
the words would stack neatly, considering
that they're all four letters long.
exporting
the illustrator file was sent into shapr3d,
where each of the letters would be
extruded at up to six different heights.
